Photo Hunt – Family

This week’s theme is “Family” so here’s a photo of my own family – Mum and Dad, and my best male friend Frazier in the middle (this was from Dad’s 70th birthday party back home in Auckland … with the lovely backdrop of our lemon tree – geez I miss that lemon tree!):

Dad's 70th (56)

Here is another one of part of my ‘extended’ family – this is Mum with Auntie Margaret, and in the front is (the late) Grandy … this is my best friend’s Grandmother who adopted me as her own granddaughter growing up. Even though I didn’t grow up in the arms of my own flesh and blood down under, we have adopted family that have more than made up for it … thanks to the Seagers and Smiths for being more of a family than we could have wished for! 😀

This is the ‘other side’ of my family … the loopy side, that thank goodness I don’t take after!! OK, well, maybe sometimes … sorry Mum and Dad, I couldn’t resist it!!!  It’s a good job they don’t know how to upload photos, or they’d have their own ammunition against me, but unfortunately I can’t find any right now LOLOL.

This week’s theme is “Lazy” and these are this week’s choices for me …

We have Dad being Lazy on a quiet beach in Fiji:

Then we have our old cat Rio (no longer with us) being Lazy in Auckland:

And this guy just makes me think “Lazy and relaxed” – one of the artworks/sculptures on display at the Enchanted Maze Gardens on the Mornington Peninsula, Melbourne:

Photo Hunt – View

This week’s theme is “View” and there are so many “views” that blow me away that I can’t narrow the choice down to one photo.

This view of the Three Sisters at Katoomba really takes my breath away.

If that’s not enough, here’s one view that I could sit and look at every single day! This is Santorini, Greece.

Then, sticking to the Greek theme, we have the island of Naxos … I just adore the history and archaeological monuments you see at every turn.  I can sit and look through my Greek photos for hours and not get bored.

And finally, here’s something a bit closer to home … the view from one of the skifields at Wanaka, New Zealand – now if that doesn’t take your breath away, nothing will!!  It’s like a view from the top of the world! 😀

Photo Hunt – Road

This week’s theme is “Road” and I couldn’t make a decision which photo to use, so I’ve got a whole bunch of them!  The photography quality isn’t fantastic, especially the Paris ones, as they’re scans of some prints I took years ago with a point and shoot (which Mum very kindly bought with her from home when she last visited) … but I still love ’em 🙂

First up is from one of the views we had driving from Sydney to Coffs Harbour a couple of months ago – we took a detour and drove through the native forest for a while.

Road 2

Next up are some photos I took years and years ago when I visited Paris for my 2nd time – Paris still remains my all-time favourite city in the world to date.  These are views from the Arc de Triomphe.

Road 5

Finally, this is a photo I’ve used before, and is the winding road up to the Remarkables skifield in Queenstown, New Zealand – it’s a bit hairy when you meet traffic coming the opposite way … the photo doesn’t quite do justice to displaying the steep drops off the side of the roads!  It is a very picturesque part of the world, that’s for sure, especially in winter when the alpine peaks are covered in snow 🙂

Photo Hunt – Wild

This week’s theme is “Wild” and there are so many interpretations for this theme I thought I’d choose a couple of different ones.

First up is an aboriginal man who reminds me of an indigenous version of the “Wild Man” of Borneo 😉

Wild 1

Then we have a “wild-eyed” crazy man in the band at The Cuckoo in Melbourne.

Wild 2

And lucky last, we have a “wild ride” Egypt-style … trekking into the Valley of the Kings.

Photo Hunt – String(s)

This week’s theme is “String(s)” and even though the photography isn’t great on this one, I thought this photo fitted the theme well.  This is a scan of an old photo I took years ago on a visit to Paris on a point and shoot – I love all the ‘strings’ (wires) hanging in symmetry in this shot. I’d love to be able to take this photo again with a better camera and a different angle to crop out the background trees … maybe if I get keen I’ll attack it in Photostop Elements one day 😉

Photo Hunt – Beautiful

This week’s theme is “Beautiful” and I had loads of choices of photos this week – the word “beautiful” evokes so many feelings …

After debating between many floral and scenic photos, I decided on my very favourite subject, and a photo I haven’t published before.  Of course this beautiful creature is my favourite on earth, and one reason for my blog name … this little duck was taken on the shores of Lake Emerald, Melbourne.  In fact, I may just have to crop him and use him for my blog header at some stage hmmm … 🙂
