Printed in Anne’s Glory Box Book Nine, but taken as a 4-week class project. Class project over 4 weeks at La Chatelaine, Mt Eden – tutor Monica M Hunt (the original designer). Wonderful chance to see her collection (via photos) of hussifs stitched over the years. Started 2001.

Stumpwork Thimble Pipkin (Needlework Accessories) – from Stumpwork Embroidery, Designs and Projects, by Jane Nicholas – started 2000.
Part of a set of needlework accessories – including pin wheel, scissors scabbord, needlebook and silk pouch.

Stoney Creek: Nature’s Resting Place 

Started approx 1992. One of my first attempts at cross stitch. Unfortunately too late I realized that the top half of the piece should have been stitched with only 1 strand of thread – but it was too late, I’d stitched the entire part … and decided not to bother unpicking it. Possibly should get the award for sitting the longest in my “UFO” pile! This chart was also responsible for me starting to buy most of the DMC stranded cotton collection.

My first ever SAL with the Stitching Smalls Yahoo internet group, the original chart is stitched in apricot colours – as always I ended up changing mine to blues, and one of the girls in Paris nicknamed mine “Marine Elegance” which stuck!

Class project – from Inspirations No 27, 2000 – designed by Jan Kerton. Taught as a class project at La Chatelaine, Mt Eden – tutor Elizabeth. The magazine project is much larger, for a full bag – but the class project was for a pincushion – Started 2001.

Class project with Jane Nicholas herself as the tutor – I felt very much in awe during the class, and found Jane to be a very patient and enthusiastic tutor. The class was also the first one I attended as a new member of the Embroiderers Guild of Victoria in Melbourne. Started 6 November 2004.

Class project from “Hoop is not a Four-Letter Word” – taught by Martha Schmidt, Heart of Cross Stitch Festival, Sacramento, CA, USA. The kit uses pink flosses and fabric lining, but I changed the colours to reflect my personal tastes more – and chose blues just for a change!
