This week’s theme is ”Advertisement” and this is a photo I took in Glenelg, Adelaide for my friend Fraze, who always referred to my stitching as “Haberdashery” (or more affectionately as “Haberdasheryuck”).

Not in blogging mode
Had a throwing-up migraine Saturday, and basically spent the weekend in bed in my PJ’s … then it’s been a challenging week a work, with yesterday finally seeing our floor’s redundancies being realised (after being raised in the media weeks and weeks ago) …
The girl who sits next to me is now redundant, plus someone in the next aisle … and my boss is fighting for her position with her colleagues (they have 2 positions available, and 3 people) – still haven’t found out all of the other cuts yet on our floor … but this week sucks big time!
Didn’t get much sleep last night, but at least today I found out that my personal job is safe for the timebeing, however no guarantees there won’t be another wave of redundancies down the track … Still feel really flat, and morale is obviously incredibly low at work – I’m very grateful to still have work, and feel really bad for the 4 colleagues so far who will no longer be with us shortly … and wondering how many more we will hear about on our floor before the week is out 😦
I may post a photo hunt on Saturday … or I may not … don’t even know what the theme is this week … other things on my mind this week 😦

Latest finishes
Following are my latest finishes, thanks to me damaging my ribs further after another coughing fit yesterday morning, and having to be escorted over the road to the doctors by my flatmate … the only way I could get comfortable is sitting propped up in bed … perfect for stitching … (sorry for the dreadful photos – all taken at night under indoor lighting)

“Spring Garden” freebie by Indigo Rose
stitched on 32ct white Belfast linen
with recommended threads (DMC)
This one is a typical Just Nan special … lots of colour changes and details – certainly not a quick stitch! This has taken me a couple of full days stitching. The colours are definitely not true to life in this one – might have to try taking a new photo in daylight …

“Autumn in the Square” by Just Nan
stitched on 28ct Light Mocha Cashel linen
with recommended threads (DMC)
Now it’s time to put some clothes on and walk over the road to pick up the repeat script of my antibiotics – and time to take some more Voltaren and Panamax … bless those darned drugs, is all I can say (it’s a killer being allergic to codeine and digesics, no decent heavy-duty painkillers that I can take … when I had my eyes lasered I could only be given Paracetamol, and that’s two days I never ever want to repeat in this lifetime!).

Missing in Action
I’ve been giving my computer a wide berth over the last couple of weeks … I’ve had a set-back with my health, after going back to square one with a viral relapse two weeks ago and feeling like death warmed up. I’ve been struggling to get through work every day, and after a full 4 weeks of feeling like cr*p, I ended up back at the GP’s office this week after dislodging a rib from trying to cough up my lungs on Thursday morning. After finding I had a temperature (which is totally unheard of for me), and kept bursting into tears all morning I’ve ended up off work again to try to recuperate. My “immunity is knackered” (direct quote from the GP), so I’m taking it easy, and continuing to take some time away from the PC.
I think my Mum is missing my blog posts, however, so I’m making an effort to catch up quickly with my latest stitching before switching off again. I owe some people emails, and will get on top of that shortly …
While I’ve been offline I’ve managed the following stitching finishes:

“A Christmas Song” by Full Circle Designs (2008 JCS ornie magazine)
Stitched on 32ct Days Gone By Silkweaver linen
with a mix of threads substituting those of the
recommended threads I didn’t have

Brunette…
This is a really bad photo of me, but shows the “new brunette do” … I’m still a bit in shock, although it is a bit softer/lighter after its first wash this morning (sorry, no photo today to compare) … I’m sure I’ll get used to it! 😀
I’m still feeling really under the weather, and started a dose of antibiotics this morning … feeling crappy accounts for the dark circles and general crappy look 😦
Why I don’t “do” Kits!
Here I have been merrily and happily stitching away on my Acorn Needlebook … on the homeward stretch, and completing the final centre block of stitches, and “wham!”, I am rudely reminded that on the whole “I really and truly hate kits!” … gotta love the convenience of having fabric, threads and embellishments all ready and prepared in the one place without requiring any effort … but by crikey it sucks when you don’t get enough threads to complete the project 😦
You may be able to tell which thread I’ve run out of … it’s not hard to work out … I guess it’s time to hunt down a new skein before I can get it finished … geez I hope someone local has it in stock!
I have to repeat … “geez, I hate kits!!!”
Then for something different I decided to turn into a brunette today … I have a head the colour of mahogany, and I feel shell-shocked 😉
