Alas, my worst fears have come to pass … it appears the one missing box that never got delivered by Dodgey Bros R Us (aka every bad filthy name under the sun you can think of … and I can think of many!) when I moved to Sydney contained some very precious items. To be honest, I think I’ve almost purposefully not checked the final two boxes for this long because I didn’t want my fears to become reality … but the time came when I just couldn’t put off the task any longer … and my fears were well founded 😦
What has me so upset, I hear you ask? Could it be a couple of bars of gold bullion I’ve been squirrelling away for my retirement? Perhaps a winning Lotto ticket that still has to be cashed? Perhaps a personalised signed photo of Tony Curtis (don’t ask! LOL), or the front door key to Jensen Ackles’ home? No, it’s much much worse than that! Unfortunately almost my entire collection of JCS Christmas Ornie magazines were in that box {heavy sigh}. It’s taken me ages to get almost the entire collection together – the only one I was missing was 1999 … but alas it appears now I’m missing every one barring the 2007 and 2008 issues 😦
Luckily I’d got really organised before I placed my belongings into storage and took working copies of a fair few designs, so I can still stitch some, but it’s really heartbreaking to lose them! I think I ‘may’ have my 2005 edition floating around in my stitching bags as well, and my Mum (sweetheart that she is) has offered to give me back the copies that I’d originally bought for her, so I may be able to replace one or two of the missing issues.
Anyway, I just had to share my woes with people who understand my despair …
Now, if I could just find those house keys to Jensen’s place that would help to ease the burden … ;P
Oh no!! I feel for you, I’d be heartbroken!
Aw, Anne, what a shame! 😦 Can you or did you ever make a formal complaint against that bunch? They sound like a right load of cowboys.
Oh no. Thats a shame.
Anne, I enjoy reading your blog and have been lurking for a while. I have one extra JCS orni magazine – I’ll check the year (the cover is torn) – contact me and I will be glad to mail it to you.
Clare
Oh No! Just thinking about it makes my stomach hurt for you.
Oh dear :o( I hope you can replace them. I didn’t think we’d hear about that darned company again. It makes my blood boil when I think of the crap and hard time you got from them. Grrrrrrr.
Anne I have a spare copy of the 2004 magazine, it’s yours if you want it just drop me a note.
{{{Anne}}} – I’m so sorry that you lost those magazines – I know from personal experience (flood in my storage locker) what it’s like to have stash destroyed – only another stitcher understands.
I hope you’re able to get the back issues somehow!
That really bites!! So sorry you’ve lost the mags. I hope you can replace them.
Oh no Anne!! Feel free to come browse through mine any time you feel the urge.
hugs
Amanda
I’m so sorry Anne. What a bugger!
I’m so sorry to hear that you lost all of those magazines. I know that I would feel just sick if I lost mine.
I do have a spare copy of the 2002 issue. The cover isn’t perfect…it must have been bent a bit when it was shoved in the mail box…but you can’t tell unless you look very close. I would be more than happy to send it to you 🙂 Let me know.
Anne – let me know which years you are still missing. I was at my LNS yesterday, and they have every year since 2002 in stock, so I’d be happy to pick up the years that others haven’t already volunteered to give you.
I don’t own the early years myself – I used to have them, but I sold them a few years ago on eBay when I was desperate for cash! 🙂
PS – meant to say – I would pick them up for you as my treat…
