It’s been a while since I participated in any Exchanges, but I decided to join Becky and her group of followers in a Pin Pillow exchange, mailing date 1 April. I just received my recipient’s name this morning, and the first thing I did was to check out her blog to see what sort of designs she likes and if I could find her favourite colour – anything to help me choose something that he/she is more likely to appreciate.
Anyway, this got me thinking about anyone who doesn’t know me who has my name in an exchange – it would be difficult for them to find the same information in my blog … especially as these days that I’m not stitching as prolifically. So, I decided to uplift some of the information from my RAK Registry post, and tweak it a bit, and have now added that as an extra page here – my “Likes” page. Hopefully this will help any future exchange partners to find the information they need! 🙂
And now I’m off to continue cutting up some more fabrics for the two dozen or so new projects that I dragged out of the stash pile last night … I won’t kit them up with their DMC etc yet, or I might find myself in trouble, but at least the fabric will be cut up ready, as that’s my usual drawback when I’m starting something new … of course it will take me the entire year and beyond to stitch them all, but at the moment for me the fun is in the planning 😉
I saw that exchange and was tempted to join, but then I thought I had not better get in over my head and take my return to stitching slowly! 🙂 Also I am in a greedy mood and just want to stitch for me for a while (not just stitch but finish too-and have something pretty to display). Have fun with this though. I wasn’t sure if a pin pillow was a biscornu or a pin cushion, so I look forward to seeing what people stitch. And slightly off topic–what is a PIF? I’ve obviously missed out things since I’ve been away and can’t figure that one out! 🙂
Hi Danielle! I have to admit I stopped doing exchanges because I found them quite stressful for a while, but I think I’m ready to start doing one or two again. The one thing I did find when doing exchanges is that it gave me more confidence to try finishing things, which I really need!
As to the PIF, it stands for “Pay It Forward” – the idea is based on the movie … you send a stitched gift to three people, then in turn have to send a gift to three people, and on it goes – unlike exchanges you don’t get anything back, but it’s a nice way to make someone’s day, I think 🙂
It’s lovely to see you back blogging (and stitching) regularly again!
Hugs, Anne
That is a really good idea – I hadn’t thought of this before.
I totally relate to what you say about planning and about exchnages.
I was doing so many exchnages during the last three years that I had to cut down on the numb er. Now this year I plan not to do more than three. And as for the planning of new projects – it’s one of the most fun things for me. Will you show your choices on your blog?
“these days that I’m not stitching as prolifically”….HO HO HO!!!
What is prolific in your language then, Anne? Do you mean the last time you were unemployed?? LOL!! You produce more embroidery than anyone I’ve ever known, both on and off the Internet. Not only more, but perfectly stitched too. When and if you ever retire from your current job, you might consider teaching embroidery…in Melbourne?
I second Gina’s comment that everything you do is perfectly stitched. You are amazing! As far as exchanges go, I went overboard for a couple of years and find that deadline stitching takes the fun out of it for me. So, I don’t do it anymore. Besides, I like giving stuff away. Maybe I’ll do another PIF for the heck of it. With a very relaxed deadline. Like, end of next decade… 😉
