PhotoHunt – Time (& Wet)

This week’s theme is “TIME” … I was originally going to pop up the road and take a photo of a local building with clock face and flag flying, but the weather has been awful today, so it wasn’t worth going (and during the week I didn’t have shifts that were conducive to being home in daylight hours either). So instead I came up with the following …

Very wise words said many many years ago … “Take time to smell the roses” (Russian Proverb) – over the years I’ve come to realise how important it is to take time to enjoy the simple things in life, and everything that each day brings … These roses were from the flower markets in Hong Kong – I just adore how every single bud has it’s own protective packing!

Then just for fun, here’s my Dad dressed up as “Old Father Time” ๐Ÿ˜‰

“Time is the coin of your life. It is the only coin you have, and you can determine how it will be spent. Be careful lest you let other people spend it for you.” Carl Sandburg

Now here is one from the archives again … this time the subject is “WET”. I didn’t realise I’d brought this photo with me when I moved to Aussie, but sure enough I just found this during the week … a very VERY old ph0to of me when I was about 17 – on Christmas Day in NZ, wearing my brand new dress I’d bought for the occasion (I was working full time back then as a typist) – my cousin who was visiting from the UK very kindly threw me into the swimming pool, then to add insult to injury made Mum throw a bucket of water over me while he took photos … have to admit, it’s a great action shot! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The next photo is me being stupid – sitting waiting for a bus at Nadi bus depot … in the middle of Nadi being flooded! I think I was in for a looooong wait! ๐Ÿ˜›

  1. These are all very cool. It is always fun to take a peek into someone elses life. You have shared some great photos for that. The rose thing is very cool. to bad they do not pack them lik ethat here in the States….

    Happy Hunting, Stormii

  2. Oh, your photos are fantastic! They all represent the theme time so well! What a great job! I love that way you captured the water in mid-air! Your Dad makes a great Father Time, and I hope you didn’t waste a lot of time waiting for the bus! lol ๐Ÿ™‚

  3. What FUN photos! LOL! I would SO have waited for that bus too — long enough to get the picture! That was an opportunity that shouldn’t be missed! The bucket of water is such an excellent photo – there has GOT to be a contest out there sOMewhere that you could win money from it! Just AWESOME! (that water is also “frozen in TIME”) … and like you, I love those little bud protectors — I wonder who has the job of putting them on! NOT the job I want when I grow up – for suuuuuuure!

  4. I like your interpretation for TIME. Definitely time to smell the roses, and I agree, having each bud uniquely wrapped is kool!

Your Dad looks like quite the character! lol

I almost choked up when I saw the Carl Sandburg quote. This is what my favourite teacher wrote in my autograph book. It was Grade 6. Imagine? He knew me so well even back then. I still think of him often and have visited with him over the years but have not had the occasion to run into him for quite a few years now. If I do run into him I’m definitely going to suggest we go for a coffee or a beer!!! I should look him up and see if he is still around the city. I’m going to google him or 411 him right now. Thanks Anne! I feel the Lord working in mysterious ways, through you!

Have a great (what’s left of it) weekend!

  5. They are all great! The roses look really cool all individually wrapped like that. I’ve never seen anything like that before!

  6. I love those pics. Where did you take the picture of the roses? I see them wrapped like that all the time in Hong Kong but never anywhere outside of China.

  7. love your collection of photos. they certainly cover different aspect’s of the theme ๐Ÿ™‚ the individually wrapped roses and quotes are just beautiful

  8. Anne, I just have time to visit your blog and read about the hard time you are going thru, been there too. I will keep you in my prayers and ask for prosperity and happiness.

  11. Very nice photos. Re the roses, after living in that part of the world for a few years the novelty wears off fast as they are such a bugger to unwrap!
