WOOHOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!! I just decided on the spur of the moment to jump online and check my order status, and this is what was on the screen:
“Complete: Your order was shipped on 03/26/10 by Priority Mail International”
I had to shake my head and look back again to make sure I wasn’t still asleep and hallucinating! That means my Rainbow Gallery thread is ON ITS WAY HERE!!!! Which ALSO means that in approximately 2 weeks time I will have no excuse not to get Sapphire Star finished! I’m absolutely ecstatic 😀
Didn’t get any stitching done last night, ‘cos we went food shopping instead for a shared morning tea this morning, and by the time we got home it was quite late … I think I’ll finish the rest of the next colour in the border above the “birds” in Egyptian Garden Mandala, then I’ll swap over to something else, because at that point I’m getting too close to the edge of my Qsnaps and it’ll be time to move it onto scrollbars instead. I actually do have large Qsnaps to cater for it, but I’ve realised that I struggle to get underneath it. Hmmm, actually, I wonder if I should just make it long and narrow to start with and stitch all the centre section first, then come back and widen the top or bottom section … Ooh, I never thought of that (ignore the fact that I bought scrollbars especially for this project) … I MUCH prefer the lovely tight tension that I can get with Qsnaps … Of course that means that I have to take Winter Queen off the Qsnaps, as she’s currently on them to stop her from getting wrinkled and damaged – but if I pulled my finger out and got her framed she wouldn’t have any problems … LOL. Now all I need is some computer ink so I can print off those parts of the chart … I’m a bit chuffed with my little plan – and at least it’s here in print so it’ll remind me when I forget, ‘cos my little pea brain is VERY geriatric these days and I forget things a lot …
One thing I do want to stitch next is a scissor pocket – I’ve decided to sign up for Becky’s next exchange, as I really enjoyed stitching the last one. I’m not sure, though, which style of scissor pocket I want to do, and I’ve never made either of them before, so I’m thinking I could make a trial run of both of them, then when I know who my partner is I can check their likes and dislikes and try to suit the actual colour/design to their likes in whatever style I end up preferring.
Ah, so many things I want to do, and so little time …
Hope your thread arrives quickly. Was out there surfing and came across this site. … http://www.justonemorestitch.blogspot.com/….if you scroll down a bit you will see three of the Perrin needleworks similar to yours. They are lovely…thought you might like to see them.
Good for you, you can start stalking the postman soon 🙂
I love stalking the postperson/delivery trucks. There are several packages coming my way, but none are stitching related. 😦 Still I’ve been on the tracking site trying to ascertain when they’ll be in my hands!
Hope your thread arrives very quickly!
Sorry I wasn’t able to help with the thread, but I didn’t have this one in my stash anyway.
I normally stalk the postman and nothing ever arrives. Yesterday we were away all day from very early and when I arrived home, there were two big packages waiting. Perhaps the appropriate saying here is “a watched postman won’t deliver”….
I have just admired all your finishes that you show in your last posts. Looking forward to seeing the Halloween pouch finish-finished. It will be a gorgeous piece.
I hope you will receive your threads real soon.
I’m so glad that your threads are on their way. I have to admit, there is nothing better than checking the status and seeing that they have shipped, but I really wish that store would send notification emails… I really love your Sapphire Star and it gets me psyched up to start my first canvas project, as well. I am waiting for a friend to come back into town from her southern winter hideaway and then we are going to go to a local shop that specializes in needlepoint/canvaswork fibers. Since I’m going to do a color conversion (on my first piece; what am I, nuts?), I’m relying on her experience and expertise to help me make the right choices.
As far as Q-snaps versus scroll rods go, I’m surprised that you prefer the Q-snaps. Myself, I have trouble working with the Q-snaps. They provide lovely tension, but I can never mount the piece squarely on them, so it’s always somewhat distorted, which drives me nuts. Besides that, I find it difficult to deal with extra fabric when working with Q-snaps, plus I don’t have an adapter yet from my floor stand, so I have to work with them in hand, which is much slower. But, to each her own. 🙂
Funnily enough, I tried putting my Mandala on the larger Qsnaps yesterday, and I still can’t get the stitching part at a comfortable place for me, so I think it’s the scroll bars for me shortly! I usually use the Qsnaps for my medium-small pieces – anything that will fit in the centre of the Qsnap space so it never covers my stitching … long samplers and Mirabilias etc all go on the scroll bars 🙂 I prefer having just the piece of stitching that I’m working on showing just because it’s easier for me to reach – and when using scroll bars I try to use those little Clasps on the side of the fabric to try to get a firmer tension (although it’s never ‘quite’ the same).
Can’t wait to see what colours you’re using for your stitching – they wouldn’t be purple would they? 😛 As for having a Canvaswork specialty shop, I think that would be heaven in itself with all the different threads {{sigh}}.
